Meeting Accredited Employer INZ Obligations
As an employer, when you apply for accreditation (or us on your behalf), you commit to meeting INZ compliance requirements. At any time after accreditation approval, INZ can ask for compliance proof but at Accreditation Renewal, INZ require evidence that you’ve met requirements.
Notably, that during your accreditation, Settlement information was provided to the migrant worker within the first month of their employment. Failing to produce this can mean that your Accreditation isn’t renewed which means that you won’t be able to hire migrants unless or until this is remedied.
So, best to start avoid all this. For that, we’ve given you some tools…

Knowing Employment Law to Help You and Staff Avoid Issues
Though INZ no longer require employers and employees to complete the employment modules, unless you and your worker are knowledgeable about employment rights, we would suggest that each party could benefit from doing the modules for their own protection.
Employer Learning Modules
These are a series of 8 online Employment Learning modules, created by MBIE which focus on training on the basics of Employment law from an Employer perspective
Basic Directions
The first of the 8 modules is the most comprehensive, taking about 30 minutes depending on your familiarity with employment basics and the individual, shorter ones about 10 minutes. Sign up is probably the most challenging part…
- Go to Employer eLearning
- Sign up as an Employer
- Complete Courses including the quiz in order to receive certificates.
- Save Certificate/s or just ensure they’re saved against your account as completed
Employee Learning Modules
This is the same as the employer modules but focuses on rights instead of obligations. Its also 8 modules and similar time estimate. The modules are translated to a number of different languages.
Basic Directions
Same structure as that for Employer but allows selection of language. We would suggest to save time in the set up and since these are best done on a desktop, that you sit with the employee to get them started. Make sure that they have their phone as signup and completion verifications will be sent to their email address.
- Go to Employee eLearning
- Sign up as an Employee
- Complete Courses including the quizzes in order to receive certificates.
- Save Certificate/s
- Email a copy of each completed certificate to the Employer
