We’re looking for a capable, reliable farm worker with 3+ years’ experience to step into a key 2IC role on a 1200-cow farm located 18 minutes from Collingwood in Golden Bay. The farm operates an 80-bail rotary and needs someone confident, skilled and ready to support day-to-day management.

As 2IC, you’ll work closely with the Farm Manager and be an important part of the day-to-day running of the farm.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Working closely with the Farm Manager with day-day farm operations
• Milking and shed management
• Animal husbandry, production and health monitoring
• Pasture and fodder management
• Machinery, equipment, shed maintenance and general farm maintenance
• Meeting regulatory requirements
• Breeding, calving and calf-rearing
• Cattle transport
• Contractor coordination
• Staff support and general farm duties

Hours & Pay

• Guaranteed 40 hours per week (maximum 50 on salary)
• Any hours worked over the maximum in a fortnight are paid at the agreed overtime rate
• Typical hours run from 4am to 5pm with breaks
• Salary up to $80,000 – $100,000 depending on experience     

What You Must Have

• Solid proven dairy farming experience
• Be able to work independently and part of a team
• Good communication and organisational skills
• Strong references
• Good character and a strong work ethic
• Physical fitness
• Ability to pass a pre-employment drug test
• A full New Zealand driver’s licence
